A very easy beef dish, perfect for winter nights. Serve on penne noodles, or on mashed potatoes.

Serves: 4 

  • 400g beef cubes
  • 1/2 packet French onion soup mix
  • 1 stubbie (375ml) full strength beer (ale or lager)

Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour5min 

  1. Preheat oven to 170 degrees C.
  2. Put beef into casserole dish, sprinkle soup mix over and mix to coat beef.
  3. Pour approx 1/2 bottle of beer over beef, until all meat is covered.
  4. Put in oven for 30 mins, stir, and cook in oven for another 30 mins.
  5. If sauce is still thin after cooking, combine 1 teaspoon cornflour and 1 tablespoon warm water, and stir in.
  6. Serve on penne, or mashed potato.
