This version is the moist melt in your mouth kind ( = enjoy them while they last because you'll be fighting off the crowds with this family favourite! Store biscuits in an airtight container for up to 1 week. You can freeze them for up to 3 months.

Serves: 12 

  • 125g butter, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup quick cooking oats (rolled oats)

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C (160C fan forced). Line 3 baking trays with baking paper.
  2. Combine the butter and syrup in a small saucepan over moderate heat. Cook and stir for 2-3 minutes or until melted. Cool slightly.
  3. Place flour, sugar and oats in a medium bowl. Stir in butter mixture. Roll tablespoons of the mixture into balls. Place on prepared trays; flatten slightly.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes, swapping trays halfway through, or until golden. Cool on trays.

So yummy! Family loved them! Added some cinnamon and only had 1 Tb of golden syrup, so added that with 1 Tb honey and soooo nice. Next time will double the batch as all cookies were gone within minutes! - 25 Apr 2010


Yummo! Just finished baking these and have already scoffed three. I used 1tbsp of golden syrup and 1tbsp honey (and added some mixed spice) as per a previous reviewer, perfect in every way. - 08 Jul 2012


Altered ingredient amounts. added some cinnamon. Also, I cut butter to 75 g normal butter, and 50 g weight watchers butter. Changed 2 TB golden syrup to 1 TBspn golden syrup + 1 TBspn honey - 25 Apr 2010
