Steam or boil the broccoli until tender but still crisp; about 7 minutes. Drain and arrange broccoli on a serving platter.
While the broccoli is cooking, melt the butter in a small frypan over medium heat. Mix in the brown sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, pepper and garlic. Bring to a boil (make sure it doesn’t burn) then remove from the heat.
Mix in the cashews and pour the garlic butter sauce over the broccoli. Serve immediately.
Altered ingredient amounts.
I used less soy and butter as the first time it was a little salty. The second time I made this, I replaced half of the butter with low sodium chicken stock and unsalted cashews. - 18 Jul 2010
