Chicken Drumsticks - Indonesian Style

Quick, simple, foolproof, pour over sauce, pop in oven and you have a tasty 'finger food' to greet your guests or you can add mashed potatoes, peas, corn or vegetable of choice to make a very tasty meal.

Serves: 4 

  • 1 kg chicken drumsticks
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 45g butter
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 2 tablespoons dry mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • salt/pepper to taste

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour10min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Place all ingredients except chicken in a microwave jug. Microwave 1 min until honey and butter melt (time taken will depend on microwave), stir to combine.
  3. Place chicken pieces in a roast tin (I line the tray with foil, saves cleaning later) and pour over marinade. Turn chicken pieces to coat with sauce.
  4. Cover container and bake for 30 minutes, uncover and bake for a further 30 minutes.

very nice, not too sweet and a lovely slight curry taste - my kids loved it and they hate all things curry - so there you go!! I used the sauce/cooking juices as extra sauce when serving. I also added a good dash or two of soy sauce to give it a bit of colour. - 20 Aug 2012
