Crab and Cream Cheese Wontons (Rangoon)
Asian inspired wontons stuffed with a crab and cream cheese mixture then deep fried to golden brown. These are delicious dipped in sweet and sour sauce. Great for parties.

250g crab meat, chopped
250g cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon steak sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
30 wonton wrappers
1 egg yolk, well beaten
oil, for deep frying
Chinese mustard or sweet and sour sauce, for dipping
- Combine crab meat, cream cheese, steak sauce and garlic powder in a medium bowl then blend into a paste.
- Place a heaping teaspoonful on each wonton wrapper. Moisten edges of wonton wrapper with egg yolk, gather the 4 corners together at the top then pinch edges together to seal.
- Heat oil to 190 degrees C, add wontons in batches then fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes per batch. Remove with slotted spoon then drain on paper towels. Serve with dipping sauce.
