This is a tasty side dish, best served after a couple of hours refrigeration. Great if you need to bring a salad for a BBQ. I always make it for Christmas lunch.

Nice flavor. The thousand island dressing gives this salad quite a bit of sweetness. I found I didn't need the salt, but did add a bit of black pepper and some defrosted frozen green peas for color. This recipe, as written, makes A LOT of salad. I only made half the recipe and ended up using less than half the amount of dressing called for even after I adjusted the recipe amounts. - 30 May 2013
