Hot Barbecue Sauce
If you've never tried making your own barbecue sauce, I urge you to change your ways! Adjust the heat to your own taste.
Ingredients
Serves: 30
- 4 (410g) tins chopped tomatoes
- 2 onions, minced
- 6 jalapeno or green chillies, chopped
- 1 dessertspoon ground cumin
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 2 tablespoons caster sugar
- 1/2 cup (120ml) white wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 500g passata
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- approximately 1 cup (250ml) water

- In a large stockpot, combine tomatoes, onion, chillies, cumin, salt, sugar, vinegar, garlic, passata, tomato sauce and enough water to bring the mixture to your desired consistency. Bring mixture to a slow boil, reduce heat and let simmer for at least 2 hours.
- Let the mixture cool completely then pour into individual jars. Store in refrigerator. Will keep for several weeks.

This recipe was outstanding. If I could rate this more than a 5 it would be a 10 in my book. I added a little worchestershire at the end. My dad said (and he likes HOT sauce) this was the best he ever had. He has tried them all too. Very good! I will keep this as my secret too. ha! - 29 Sep 2008
