Korean Seaweed Soup

This is a traditional dish in Korea, originally given to new mothers as they believed it would assit with milk production. However it is a tasty dish to be enjoyed by anyone!
30g dried brown seaweed, e.g. kelp
2 teaspoons sesame oil
100g very thinly sliced beef fillet steak
salt, to taste
4 teaspoons soy sauce
1 1/2 litres of cold water
1 teaspoon very finely chopped garlic

- Soak seaweed in water until it becomes soft, then drain and cut into 2.5cm pieces.
- In a medium saucepan heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add beef, pinch of salt and 1 tsp soy sauce. Fry for one minute. Add seaweed, remaining soy sauce then stir fry gently again for another minute.
- Pour in enough water to cover ingredients; bring to a boil. When it is boiling, add garlic and rest of water. Simmer for 30 minutes, then serve.
