Herb and Cheese Scones

The herbs in these scones make them a little different to the usual, very refreshing... but you won't be sorry you tried them and people WILL be asking for the recipe... don't gobble them all down at once though!


Serves: 6 

  • 2 cups self-raising flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/3 cup (40g) grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup (60g) grated tasty cheese
  • 1½ Tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1½ Tablespoons chopped fresh green spring onions
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup (250ml) milk, approx

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min 

  1. Grease a 20cm round cake tin. preheat oven to 240 degrees C.
  2. Sift flour and sugar into a bowl, stir in cheese and chopped herbs.
  3. Rub in butter, stir in enough milk to mix to a soft sticky dough.
  4. Turn dough onto floured surface, knead lightly until smooth.
  5. Press dough out to about 2½ cm thickness, cut into 5cm rounds.
  6. Place scones into prepared tin, brush with a little extra milk.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for about 15 minutes.
