A delicious chicken recipe that is so easy to prepare; chicken pieces cooked in a spicy tomato sauce. It has been a family favourite for years. If you prefer spicer, add more horseradish and cayenne.


Serves: 4 

  • 4 boneless chicken breasts
  • 3 cups tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp celery salt
  • 2 tablespoons horseradish cream
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce

  1. Remove skin from chicken - you can use boned chicken pieces if you prefer - and place the pieces in a baking dish.
  2. Mix remaining ingredients together and pour them over the chicken in baking dish (not a glass dish since mixture may burn on sides) .
  3. Cover the dish and place in preheated oven.
  4. Bake at 165 degrees C for approx 1½ hours
  5. After cooking, remove chicken. Place any remaining sauce in dish to be served at table.
  6. Serve this chicken and sauce with rice.

Make the sauce ahead

This sauce mixture can be made beforehand and simply poured over chicken at later time.
