Chocolate Hedgehog Slice

    A crowd pleaser which has never failed. A simple yet delicious chocolate treat featuring the crispness of biscuit pieces. The combination of easily available and simple yet decadent ingredients creates a delicious slice for all occasions.

    Serves: 8 

    • 350g vanilla biscuits
    • 250g unsalted butter
    • 600ml sweetened condensed milk
    • 2 tablespoons cocoa

    1. Break the vanilla biscuits into small pieces, about 5 pieces per biscuit. Put aside for the moment.
    2. Melt the butter inside a non stick saucepan on low heat.
    3. Pour the condensed milk in the same saucepan as the melted butter.
    4. Leave the butter and condensed milk to combine. Bring to the boil then add the two tablespoons of cocoa.
    5. Keeping on a low heat stir slowly for approximately 2 minutes until well combined and a brown, chocolate colour. If the chocolate mixture does not thicken the hedgehog will not hold together.
    6. Add the broken biscuits into the same saucepan as everything else.
    7. Line the cake tin with plastic wrap.
    8. Turn off the heat and pour the mixture in the lined cake tin. Roll the mixture into a log shape wrapping it tightly with the plastic wrap.
    9. Carefully put the hedgehog in the freezer and allow it to harden for at least five hours.

    OMG!!!!! When converted to Australian ingredients this contains a small pack of butter and 2 1/2 tins of condensed milk - talk about heart attack material!! It actually wasn't all that nice either. I won't be making it again.  -  30 Aug 2011
