Spelt Bread in a Breadmaker

Spelt is not strictly gluten free but is easier to digest than wheat. This makes a very light flavorsome loaf. I have used both white and wholemeal spelt flour with excellent results. .

PANUARA

Ingredients
Serves: 6 

  • 1¼ cups (310ml) warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 egg
  • 3 ½ cups (375g) organic spelt flour
  • 1 tablespoon bread improver
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions
Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:3hours  ›  Ready in:3hours5min 

  1. Mix together the water, oil, honey and egg. Place in pan of bread machine then add all the dry ingredients. Start the “white bread cycle” on bread machine.

If you take the weight of the egg from the amount of water e.g 60 from 310 and only add 250 mls of water this make a delicous loaf. Add some fruit and it is a fruit loaf that will disappear in one go. Yummy - 30 Aug 2011
