This recipe uses breakfast instant oats sachets to create delicious bread flavours - good for when a slightly sweeter bread suits the occasion. This bread is great toasted.

Serves: 6

  • 500g Bread Mix or equivalent
  • 7 gram sachet dry yeast
  • 325 m tepid (warm) water
  • 40g Instant Oats Mix, for example Apple, Sultana & Honey mix
  • 1 tsp sugar or honey

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Extra time:1hour40min rising  ›  Ready in:2hours25min

  1. Place yeast in bowl with 100ml of the tepid water, 1 tsp honey or sugar and 100 grams of the bread mix.
  2. Let stand 10 minutes until active and bubbles form.
  3. Stir in the instant oats packet and leave for just 2 minutes. Do not leave too long as the oats will absorb too much liquid.
  4. Add in remainder of the water and stir in remainder of flour. Mix, turn out on floured board and knead until even and consistent.
  5. Finish making bread in the usual manner - e.g. set the bread in a warm place in an oiled bowl for about an hour and allow to double.
  6. Knead again, and place in bread tin or tins, allow to rise for another 40 minutes and then bake at 190 degrees C for 25 minutes. If desired brush surface with butter prior to placing in oven.
