Deb's Crab Dip with Damper

This recipe was invented by my sister and is always a hit at parties. Serve the dip with the bread removed from the loaf and guests can also eat the bread "bowl."

Serves: 15 

  • 1 (125g) packet cream cheese
  • 1 (170g) can of crabmeat
  • 1 cup (250ml) sour cream
  • 1/2 (125ml) cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • 4 finely chopped spring onions,
  • Curry powder to taste (optional)
  • I round loaf of damper about 25 cm wide - or any round loaf of bread

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour15min 

  1. Preheat oven to 120 degrees C
  2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl, mixing well and add curry powder to taste.
  3. Remove an appropriate amount of bread from the loaf and reserve. Spoon the dip into the hollowed out loaf.
  4. Bake for about 20 mins till warmed through.
