Spiced Almonds

    Warm spices turn almonds into irresistible nibbles. You can try any nuts with this spice mixture. Try mixing almonds with macadamias and cashews. Just make sure you watch the quantity you eat—try just a small handful, not the whole bowl.

    • 1 cup unpeeled whole almonds
    • 1 teaspoon olive oil
    • 3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
    • pinch cayenne pepper
    • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

    1. Toss the almonds with oil, cumin, cayenne and garlic powder in a pie plate or shallow baking dish lined with baking paper.
    2. Bake at 180 degrees C, stirring occasionally, until fragrant, 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool. Almonds will keep, enclosed in an airtight container, for up to 1 week.
