    Apple sauce is a great side to pork but is equally good as an ingredient in baking recipes or eaten alone with ice cream.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 8 

    • 1 1/2 kg apples, peeled, cored and diced
    • 2 1/2 cups water
    • 1 cup caster sugar
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

    Directions
    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Place apples in a large saucepan and just barely cover with water. Simmer over medium-low heat until apples are tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
    2. Blend apples in a processor until a puree. Stir in the sugar and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for about 3 to 5 minutes.

    You could also add a touch of cinnamon. Also it was easy to blend it directly in the saucepan with a stickmixer. Toddlers love it and it is great with vanilla ice cream and custard. - 16 Dec 2008
