One of the most popular snack fruits, pears are a good source of fibre.
*Nashi, also known as Asian pears, are becoming much more common in shops and fruit markets. They are small and apple-shaped but taste like pears. Juicy and very crisp, nashi contain about one-third more fibre than regular pears.
*Canned pears packed in juice or water (not syrup) may be substituted for fresh in many recipes. However, they do contain considerably less vitamin C than fresh pears.
