This is a great base recipe for a vegetarian chilli. If you cannot find black beans use extra quantities of the other beans to make up.


Serves: 6 

  • 1 tin (415g) vegetarian casserole mince
  • 800g tinned black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 800g tinned red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 400g tinned borlotti beans, rinsed and drained
  • 800g tinned chopped tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 cups tomato juice
  • 5 onions, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons chilli powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 bay leaves
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour10min 

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a simmer and cover. Simmer for at least 1 hour before serving.
