This satisfying ‘breakfast in a glass’ makes a great energising start to the day. It is ideal for people in a hurry or those who aren't keen on eating in the morning.

Ingredients
Serves: 2 

  • 350ml skim milk, chilled
  • 1 cup (250g) plain low-fat yogurt
  • juice of 1 large orange
  • 1 large banana, sliced
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tbsp wheatgerm

Directions
Preparation:5min  ›  Ready in:5min 

  1. Place all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and process for a couple of minutes until smooth and creamy.
  2. Pour the mixture into two tall glasses and enjoy immediately, while the milkshake is still frothy.

Some more ideas…

Berry shake Use 200g strawberries instead of banana. Raspberries are good too, or try the chopped flesh of 1 mango. * Replace the wheatgerm with 1 tbsp ground sunflower seeds (grind them in a clean coffee grinder or with a mortar and pestle). * Use low-fat vanilla frozen yogurt instead of the plain yogurt.

Health points

The addition of wheatgerm boosts the content of vitamin E and B vitamins in this recipe, and orange juice provides vitamin C, so this is truly a ‘high-vitality’ drink.
