Sausage Stuffing

    50 minutes

This is a wonderful side dish for a Christmas feast. It's important to use good quality sausages for the best flavour.

    4 people made this

    Serves: 6

    • 125g butter
    • 1 large onion, diced
    • 1 teaspoon herbes de Provence (mixed herbs)
    • 450g good quality sausages (skin removed)
    • 1/2 loaf crusty bread or a day-old baguette, processed into breadcrumbs

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:35min  ›  Ready in:50min

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
    2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Fry the onion until it starts to soften, add the herbs but be careful not to burn the butter.
    3. Add sausage meat and breadcrumbs to saucepan and stir until evenly blended. Transfer to an ovenproof dish.
    4. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the top goes brown and crunchy.

A traditional stuffing, but not boring in the slightest! My entire family enjoyed this at Christmas.  -  07 Aug 2008  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)

Altered ingredient amounts. Used a little olive oil to fry the onion and herbs instead of butter and upped the herbs to 1 1/2 teaspoons. Yum!  -  07 Aug 2008  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)

Ate with “garlic roast chicken” from this site and it was delicious! (5)  -  07 Aug 2008  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
