Saucy Bolognese Chilli

This is a great bolognese or chilli (I use it as both). The sauce can be adjusted to your preference or the desired use, just change the quantity of tomato, BBQ or sweet chilli sauce.


Serves: 6 

  • 1 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large brown onion, diced
  • 500g beef mince
  • 2 tablespoons crushed garlic
  • 1 (400g) tinned peeled tomatoes
  • tomato sauce, to taste
  • BBQ sauce, to taste
  • sweet chilli sauce, to taste
  • 1 (400g) tin red kidney beans, drained
  • 500g cooked pasta, your choice
  • 2-3 sprigs spring onion, diced, to garnish
  • grated cheese, to garnish e.g. mozzarella, parmesan or cheddar

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Ready in:35min 

  1. Heat olive oil in frying pan and saute onions until they are clear.
  2. Add the mince and cook until brown stirring through occasionally so it cooks evenly.
  3. Add the garlic and tinned tomatoes followed by a good splash of each of the sauces.
  4. Taste the mixture and alter it according to taste i.e. if you want it spicier add sweet chilli or if you want it less sweet add BBQ.
  5. Add the red kidney beans then lower heat and simmer for around 15-20 minutes.
  6. Serve with pasta and garnish with spring onions and grated cheese.
