Cheese and Steak Bake

Strips of tender steak are browned then added to diced potatoes and fresh broccoli. Topped with a cheese sauce then baked until hot and bubbly, this is an easy meal.


Serves: 2 

  • 2 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 stalks broccoli, diced
  • 450g sirloin steak, trimmed and cut into strips
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cheese Sauce
  • 150ml cream
  • 120g grated Cheddar cheese
  • xalt and pepper, to taste

  1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees C .
  2. Heat a saucepan of boiling water with salt and cook the diced potatoes for five minutes. Add the broccoli and cook for a further two minutes. Drain, place in a baking dish and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a heavy frypan until it's very hot. Season the steak with salt and pepper. Cook the steak for two minutes each side and then place on top of the potatoes and broccoli.
  4. Cheese Sauce: Place the double cream in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Let it reduce and stir in the crumbled cheese. Season and pour the cheese sauce over the steak and potatoes.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven until bubbling, about 20 minutes.
