A British style breakfast fry-up consisting of fried bacon, tomato, mushroom, eggs and sausage, all fried and served with a side of toast. Start your day right.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 1

    • 1 tablespoons vegetable or olive oil
    • 1 pork sausage
    • 2 thick slices bacon
    • 1 tomato, cut in half
    • 4 mushrooms, sliced
    • 1 egg
    • 1 slice bread
    • 1 teaspoon butter, or as needed

    Directions
    Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:25min

    1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the sausage. Fry until browned on one side, about 5 minutes. Turn it over to fry on the other side then add the tomato, bacon and mushrooms.
    2. When the tomato, bacon and mushrooms are just about cooked, crack the egg into the centre then allow to cook. You might want to add a little more oil just to crisp the edges. Toast the slice of bread while the egg cooks and then spread butter on it. Serve everything on a plate with the toast on the side.

Used different ingredients. Very accurate rendition of a British Fry Up! What is missing is "Brown Sauce" to dip the sausage, bacon, eggs and potato in...lovely! - 29 Sep 2008

Used different ingredients. Delicious recipe. The British Fry-Up doesn't traditionally include hashbrowns; In Northern Ireland, it is served with fried potato bread and soda bread. In other parts of the U.K., they use regular fried white bread (you'll need much more vegetable oil if you try this). Many health conscious Britons are now grilling as much of this dish as possible, i.e., the sausage, bacon, tomatoes, breads. HP sauce is a must but tomato sauce is wonderful too. - 29 Sep 2008
