Strawberry Ice Cream

Making your own ice cream makes you feel like it is healthy, and why isn’t it? This recipe uses fresh strawberries and cream.



Serves: 32 

  • 2 (400g) tins sweetened condensed milk
  • 5 cups milk
  • 2 cups double cream
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla essence
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 500g strawberries, hulled and diced


Preparation:45min  ›  Ready in:45min 

  1. Combine all ingredients in the freezer container of an ice cream maker. Freeze according to manufacturer's directions.

Altered ingredient amounts. I have been searching for an easy, delicious and fail-safe ice cream recipe. I think I've found it. We all devoured it. I didn't have any fresh strawberries so added 1 tsp mint extract and some grated chocolate. It was the best!! I have a small ice cream maker, so I halved the recipe--still worked great!!! - 29 Sep 2008

Something else. I made a scaled down version of this ice cream (slightly changed the proportions) over the weekend and served the fruit over it instead of in it. Very creamy and delicious - a hit with 4 different families so far. Thanks - 29 Sep 2008
