Pork Chops with Caramelised Onions and Peas

    These tender pork chops cooked in the slow cooker with caramelised onions, peas and apple cider are delicious served with mashed potatoes.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 2 

    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 2 pork chops
    • 4 large onions, sliced
    • 1 clove garlic, crushed
    • 2 pinches white sugar
    • 3/4 cup alcoholic apple cider
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper
    • 1/3 cup frozen baby peas, not thawed
    • 15g butter

    1. Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat and cook pork chops until browned on all sides, 7 to 10 minutes. Transfer to the slow cooker.
    2. Cook onions in the same pan over medium-low heat until soft and browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Add garlic and sugar; cook and stir for 2 to 3 minutes. Add cider and bring to a boil. Pour mixture over pork chops in the slow cooker.
    3. Cook on Low until pork chops are tender, about 7 1/2 hours. Stir in peas; cook until tender, about 30 minutes more.
    4. Transfer pork chops to a serving plate. Add butter to the sauce in the slow cooker; stir until melted. Pour sauce over pork chops.

    Its nice to find a recipe for a slow cooker you can use for 1 or 2 people.I found this easy to do. My only advice would be: Don't drink the rest of the bottle of cider why you are preparing it lol  -  19 Nov 2011  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)

    I didn't tweaked the recipe, just increased the numbers as I have 5 q slow cooker. After 8 hours on low, 1.5h on keep warm meet was extremely dry. What went wrong?  -  03 Feb 2015  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
