Thai-Style Turkey Patties

    Turkey mince patties with coriander, ginger and garlic are a quick and easy, Thai-inspired meal that the whole family will love.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 1 egg, lightly beaten
    • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 1/3 cup finely chopped fresh coriander
    • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
    • 1 tablespoon finely grated fresh ginger, or to taste
    • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
    • 1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
    • 450g lean turkey breast mince
    • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs

    1. Whisk egg and soy sauce together in a bowl; add coriander, green onions, ginger, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix turkey and breadcrumbs into mixture and mix well; form into 4 patties.
    2. Heat an oiled large non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Place patties in the frying pan; cover and cook, turning once, until burgers are no longer pink in the center, about 15 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 74 degrees C. Serve.

    It was definitely different than a normal American hamburger but both of my kids ate two patties, said they liked it, and wanted it again. The burger was sweet to me but I ate it. I used dried cilantro so the taste of cilantro was slightly stronger than my preference. The cilantro hid the onions so I didn’t have to hear my kids whine about having to eat onions so I’ll deal with that :-) I used ginger paste and it worked out fine. Patties were sticky before cooking but cooked well and stayed intact. Definitely worth trying  -  01 Aug 2018  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

    I live and teach culinary arts in Thailand. First, Thailand is not the land for making any form of burger. Second, why call it Thai, just because it has soy sauce, coriander, and ginger?
