Cardamom-Maple Salmon Fillets

    25 minutes

I love salmon. This is a great recipe for a slightly exotic flavour of Indian spices with a maple twist.

    1 person made this

    Serves: 6

    • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
    • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
    • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    • 4 tablespoons grape seed oil
    • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
    • 1 (900g) salmon fillet, sliced into 3 into pieces

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:25min

    1. Stir salt, paprika, cardamom, ground coriander and black pepper together in a bowl. Add oil and maple syrup and stir until evenly combined.
    2. Preheat a non-stick pan over medium-high heat until hot.
    3. Dredge salmon pieces through the maple syrup mixture until evenly coated on all sides.
    4. Cook salmon in the preheated pan until fish flakes easily with a fork, 5 to 7 minutes per side.

Be careful not to use too high of a temperature or the paprika-maple mixture will burn.

What an amazing recipe! I made it exactly as written, except that I grilled it outdoors instead of cooking in a pan. The flavor was outstanding. The cardamom really takes this to another level, so don't leave it out! It's a pricey spice, but well worth it! I will be making this frequently, especially for guests because it will definitely impress. Next time I will try it with the orange zest, as suggested. Thank you for the great recipe!  -  21 Apr 2014  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

I loved the flavor combination. Will keep in the rotation for weeknight meals. I like to buy a large tray of salmon at Costco and then freeze it in smaller portions - this is a great way to use the frozen/thawed leftovers.  -  14 Oct 2014  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
