    Quick and Almost Professional Buttercream Icing

    This is our favourite creamy and fluffy buttercream icing that is perfect for piping and decorating. Tint with food colouring for any special occasion.

    Serves: 8 

    • 115g unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 250g icing sugar, sifted
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 3 drops food colouring, or as needed (optional)

    1. Beat the room temperature butter with a hand mixer, the paddle attachment of a stand mixer, or a wooden spoon until smooth and fluffy. Gradually beat in icing sugar until fully incorporated. Beat in vanilla extract.
    2. Pour in milk and beat for an additional 3-4 minutes. Add food colouring, if using, and beat for thirty seconds until smooth or until desired colour is reached.
