Philly Cheese Steak

    30 minutes

This is my version of the American Philly Cheese Steak (sometimes also called a Philly Steak, or Cheesesteak). Basically it is marinated meat and vegetables combined in a roll with cheese melted into it. Super tasty and a great option for the BBQ, especially when camping.

    Serves: 4

    • Filling
    • 1 green capsicum
    • 1 red capsicum
    • 1 onion
    • Steak
    • 600g steak of choice
    • 3 tablespoons oil
    • 2 garlic cloves finley diced
    • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
    • To Assemble
    • 4 cheese slices, American style if available
    • bread rolls

    Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:30min

    1. Filling: Cut the capsicum and onion into thin slices.
    2. Gently cook the capsicum and onion on a BBQ hotplate until softened.
    3. Steak: Thinly slice the steak, then combine in a bowl with the oil, garlic and soy sauce to be seasoned.
    4. Quickly cook on the BBQ hotplate until just browned.
    5. To Assemble: Combine the vegetables and meat, then form in a line that will fit the bread roll. Then place the halved cheese slice on top.
    6. Cover with the roll until the cheese has started to melt and the roll slightly warmed.
    7. Using a large spatula slice under the whole roll and all the contents, flip into the roll then serve immediately.
