This is a free from refined sugar, paleo-friendly, gluten-free banana bread. It replaces flour with ground almonds and the sugar with a natural sweetener called agave syrup. Try it for yourself! It's moist and delicious.


Serves: 12 

  • cooking spray
  • 225g ground almonds
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 120ml water
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 60ml agave syrup
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (optional)

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:45min  ›  Ready in:1hour 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Lightly grease or spray a loaf tin with cooking spray.
  2. Mix together ground almonds, cinnamon and bicarbonate of soda in a bowl.
  3. Beat two eggs in a bowl. Mix in water, almond extract, agave syrup, mashed bananas and vanilla bean paste. Add banana mixture to almond mixture then mix well until combined. Pour mixture into the prepared loaf tin.
  4. Bake banana bread in the preheated oven until golden brown on top and crisp around the edges, about 45 minutes.
