Refreshing tuna salad

    I have grown up with this simple tuna salad, it's very versatile, you can eat it on bread, rice, roti, crackers!! or on its own, it very delicious

    Ingredients

    • 185g can tuna, in springwater, brine or olive oil
    • 1/2 of a medium sized white onion diced
    • 1/2 of a fresh tomato diced
    • 1 tablespoon chopped corriander
    • 1/4 teaspoon finely chopped habanero chilli, (I like the fragrance), add more less depending on your preference
    • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
    • salt to taste

    Directions

    1. dice onion
    2. dice tomato
    3. chop coriander
    4. finely chop chilli
    5. Add the chopped up ingredients to the tuna, add salt and lemon juice, mix it all up and BAAM, you are done, easy peasy!

    Tip

    Variations: You can add mayo, if you want the salad creamy Tips Sometimes onions can be harsh, so you can use spring onions if you like, or marinate the white onions or red, in lemon juice and salt, let it sit for a few minutes, the harshness will decrease. You can substitute the chilli for pepper, I just think chilli with lemon juice makes it really fresh and bright.
