CHICKEN STROGANOFF...with fettucine

    when I was growing up, stroganoff was made with nutmeg and goulash was made with paprika. I like my stroganoff made the old fashioned way with nutmeg. totally delish. this sauce is just as good with beef.

    • 500 grams fettucine
    • 1 kilo chicken breasts, diced
    • 1 medium onion, diced
    • 300 grams mushrooms sliced
    • 500 grams sour cream
    • 2 oxo chicken stock cubes
    • 2 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
    • salt and coarsely ground black pepper to taste


    1. cook fettucine according to packet
    2. in a large fry pan, saute chicken until colour changes. drain and put aside.
    3. in same fry pan, saute mushrooms and onions until onion is translucent.
    4. stir in sour cream, nutmeg and crumble in stock cubes. add chicken and bring to boil, stirring, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
    5. add salt and pepper.
    6. serve over fettucine.
