Fresh Stewed Apples

    This recipe came from my granny's recipe book and is very simple to make! It's a treat as is or with ice cream. I sometime used this as an apple pie filling or apple crumble. Great for breakfast as well with your granola and yogurt! Enjoy!

    Makes: 1 batch stewed apples

    • 65 g butter
    • 4 large tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced 5mm thick
    • 2 teaspoons cornflour
    • 1/2 cup cold water
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:30min 

    1. In a large pot or saucepan, melt butter over medium heat then add apples. Cook, stirring constantly, until apples are almost tender, about 10 minutes.
    2. Dissolve cornflour in water and add to pot. Stir in brown sugar and cinnamon. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and serve warm. It freeze well too.
