Tangy Mustard Sauce

    Tested a few other mustard sauce recipes and changed a few ingredients. This sauce is amazing, complimenting your corned beef or pickled pork.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 raw egg
    • 2 teaspoons sugar
    • 1 tablespoon softened butter (optional)
    • 1 tablespoon plain flour
    • 2 or 3 heaped teaspoons french mustard
    • 1 teaspoon hot mustard (optional)
    • 1/4 cup vinegar
    • 1 cup stock (such as the liquid from the stock whether it's corned beef of pickled pork) and allow it to cool
    • salt and pepper, as required

    1. In a small saucepan combine egg with sugar and butter using a small whisk with every step. Add flour and stir through. Add mustard and vinegar then stir until combined.
    2. Add the stock and stir through until you have even consistency. Place on medium heat and continue to stir until thickened. Add salt and pepper to taste. Taste and add extra vinegar or mustard as/if necessary.

    This recipe is ok although a bit to much vinegar I was not sure if was brown or white vinegar used white wine vinegar I had to add more mustard  -  15 Aug 2017
