Diabetic Piri Piri Seasoning

    If it's to season and spice your pork roast or chicken fillet, or to lightly spice up your steak or fish portion? Then my tongue-tastic piri piri seasoning will aid your cause. A grinder will help, but a pestle and mortar is equally as good.

    Makes: 1  55g batch

    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom (about 6 pods)
    • 1 teaspoon sea salt
    • 1 teaspoon diabetic sugar or sugar substitute
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
    • 2 teaspoons ground cayenne
    • 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons garlic powder
    • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
    • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

    1. Nice and simple, put all of the ingredients into a grinder and grind to a light powder. If you are using a pestle and mortar, my advice would be to start the process with the 6 cardamom pods, sea salt and sugar then slowly, bit by bit, add the oregano and remaining ingredients. Use or store in an airtight container.


    Rub olive oil into your meat or fish before sprinkling as much of the diabetic piri piri seasoning on as you like.
