Cut the bacon into small strips and fry it in a little oil in the bottom of a heavy pan.
Cook the bacon until it is crisp, then add the shelled broad beans and cook long enough only to warm through and get rid of the raw taste. This only take a minute or two.
Sprinkle on some fresh chopped herbs of your choice and serve.
If you cannot use the freshest broad beans, older ones can be used but you may need to blanch them and remove their skin. This can sometimes be tough on older, shop bought broad beans. To blanch, cover the beans in boiling water for about 30 seconds then squeeze the bean out of its skin. Now add to the bacon and stir a little to cook through.
