Doggy Liver Bites for your Faithful Hounds

    1 hour

So easy to make with only 4 to 5 ingredients. A blender, liquidiser or a food processor is a great bonus, saves to much mess (but can be made without one, just have to chop the liver well). They freeze very well. I have been making these scrummy bites for my dogs for over 20 years and have not yet had a complaint!

Be the first to make this!

    Makes: 50 servings

    • 80g rolled oats
    • 125g plain flour
    • 230g liver (e.g. chicken or beef)
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 to 2 tablespoons oil (e.g. olive, rapeseed, vegetable)

    Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:40min  ›  Ready in:1hour

    1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C. Grease a 20cm square baking tin and line with baking paper.
    2. Blend the oats in food processor for around 10 to 15 seconds then empty into large bowl with the flour.
    3. Put the liver into a food processor and process until smooth, 15 to 20 seconds, then add eggs and blend until mixed through, about 10 seconds. You can add some oil at this stage, a couple of tablespoons will do. It adds a little more flavour and is good for Fido's joints.
    4. Pour liver mixture into oats and flour mixture then stir well until blended. Spoon or press the mixture into prepared baking tin.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes. Should be firm to the touch but not hard and crispy. Take out of the oven and cool on wire rack and then cut into doggy bite size pieces. Store in fridge or freezer if you make a double batch.

This is so easy!! I used lambs liver, I will try it with beef liver too when I make it next as I've found the stronger smell is good for training.  -  31 May 2015  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
