Sweet And Sour Sauce

    10 minutes

This recipe is quite an old one. It was obtained from some Malaysian friends in the late 70's, still tastes great though and is easy to make with ingredients found in most cupboards and fridges.

    1. Heat oil in a saucepan add the garlic and chilli powder and cook until garlic is browned. You can leave out the chilli if you don't like spicy food.
    2. Add the tomato sauce, water and vinegar to the saucepan. Add the sugar and salt slowly, taste the sauce to check the balance of sweet and sour and add more or less sugar and salt accordingly.
    3. Simmer for 5 minutes. Then add the cornflour mixed with a little water to thicken the sauce.
