The combination of fresh mussels with slightly smoky pepperoni is fantastic! This soup is a must for any seafood lover.


Serves: 6 

  • 1 kg mussels, in the shell
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, grated
  • 250g pepperoni sausage, thinly sliced
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon hot paprika
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:40min 

  1. Wash the mussels and discard any that are open.
  2. Heat olive oil in a saucepan and saute garlic 1 minute. Add the onion, mussels, sausage, salt and pepper and stir well for 2 minutes.
  3. Add water, coriander, paprika and tomato paste and simmer 15 minutes. Discard any mussels that do not open and serve with bread.
