Chocolate Profiteroles

    Easy profiteroles, filled with vanilla ice cream, drizzled with chocolate and garnished with whipped cream. Ideal for a dinner party.

    Serves: 8 

    • 1 cup (250ml) water
    • 75g butter, diced
    • 1 tablespoon icing sugar
    • pinch salt
    • 150g flour
    • 4 eggs
    • 200g chocolate, diced
    • vanilla ice cream
    • whipped cream

    1. Preheat oven to 210 degrees C.
    2. In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar and salt and bring to the boil. Remove from heat and add all the flour. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
    3. Lightly grease a baking tray. Place a tablespoons of dough 3cm apart. Bake 20 minutes and cool on a wire rack.
    4. To serve, cut each profiterole in half. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler (or the microwave). Place a spoonful of ice cream in each profiterole and replace the top half. Drizzle with melted chocolate, garnish with a little whipped cream and serve immediately!
