Chocolate Coffee

    This is a Mexican drink which is like a cross between hot chocolate and coffee, with a touch of cinnamon and clove.

    Serves: 2 

    • 4 cups (1 litre) water
    • 40g cooking chocolate
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • 1 clove
    • 1/3 cup ground coffee, or to taste

    1. Heat the water to boiling in a saucepan. Add chocolate, cinnamon and cloves and reduce heat to low. Let simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    2. Add coffee and take off the heat. Stir and let stand a few minutes, until grounds settle. Strain and serve. Sweeten with brown sugar if you like.
