This is a Mexican drink which is like a cross between hot chocolate and coffee, with a touch of cinnamon and clove.
4 cups (1 litre) water
40g cooking chocolate
1 cinnamon stick
1/3 cup ground coffee, or to taste
- Heat the water to boiling in a saucepan. Add chocolate, cinnamon and cloves and reduce heat to low. Let simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add coffee and take off the heat. Stir and let stand a few minutes, until grounds settle. Strain and serve. Sweeten with brown sugar if you like.
