Onion Dyed Easter Eggs

    Dying Easter eggs is a great and simple activity you can do with kids - the only difficult part is starting the night before!

    Serves: 4 

    • red onion skins
    • eggs
    • vinegar, for patterns (optional)
    • vegetable oil (optional)

    1. Soak the onion skins in cold water in a saucepan overnight.
    2. Add the eggs and simmer 10 minutes.
    3. If you like, you can remove the eggs now and make patterns with a cotton swab dipped in vinegar.
    4. If you prefer a more intense colour, leave in the liquid (off the heat) 2 hours.
    5. If you want shiny eggs, wipe them with a paper towel soaked in vegetable oil.
