    A lovely Easter Bread filled with almond paste which you can get at the supermarket. Also nice dusted with icing sugar.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 500g flour
    • 30g yeast
    • 1 cup (250ml) milk, lukewarm
    • 100g butter, melted
    • 50g sugar
    • 1 egg
    • pinch salt
    • zest of 1 lemon
    • zest of 1 orange
    • 100g almond meal
    • 300g raisins
    • 50g walnuts, diced
    • 400g almond paste
    • To decorate
    • 50g butter
    • 50g flaked almonds

    Directions
    Preparation:1hour  ›  Cook:40min  ›  Ready in:1hour40min 

    1. Place the flour in a mixing bowl and make a well in the centre. Add the yeast and a little lukewarm milk. Sprinkle with flour, then cover and let rise 15 minutes in a warm place.
    2. Add remaining milk, melted butter, sugar, egg, salt, lemon and orange zest, almond meal, raisins and walnuts. Mix and knead well to make a dough. Place in a warm place to rise, covered, until doubled in volume.
    3. Knead again and roll out into a rectangle. Form the almond paste into a sausage and place in the middle of the dough along its length. Roll up the bread and place on a baking sheet.
    4. Let bread rise 30 more minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 220 degrees C. Brush bread with melted butter and sprinkle with almonds.
    5. Bake 40-60 minutes.
