Use fresh pumpkin puree to make pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, in cakes or casseroles. Watch it being made in the Allrecipes Pumpkin Puree Video.


Makes: 600 g puree

  • 1 pumpkin

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour15min 

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees C.
  2. Break the stem off the pumpkin (if any) and cut in half. Scrape out the seeds and membrane in the middle.
  3. Place the pumpkin on a baking tray, cut side up. Place in oven and bake 1 hour or until tender. Remove from oven and let cool.
  4. Using a spoon, scrape out all the pumpkin flesh. Transfer to a blender or food processor and blend into a smooth puree.
  5. Store in sealed containers in fridge or freezer until needed.
