Best Mulled Wine

    This is a very simple and good recipe for mulled wine. Feel free to use a cheap wine, after it has infused you won't know the difference!

    Serves: 4 

    • 4 cups (1 litre) dry red wine
    • 2 cinnamon sticks
    • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
    • 1 teaspoon whole allspice berries
    • 1 large piece orange peel (no pith)
    • 1 large piece lemon peel (no pith)
    • 4 tablespoons sugar, or to taste

    1. Combine the wine, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, orange and lemon peel in a saucepan and heat over low heat without boiling. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved, then taste and add more if necessary.
    2. Heat for 20 minutes (still without boiling). Serve in cups or thick glasses.
