Doughnuts Holes

6 people made this

Much smaller than doughnuts, doughnut holes make a wonderful snack and party finger food. The recipe is simple and easy to make.

Serves: 12

  • Doughnuts
  • 2 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 cup plain flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 50g butter, melted
  • Cinnamon Sugar
  • 1/3 cup caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:18min  ›  Ready in:33min

  1. In a bowl combine the butter and sugar until crumbly. Add the egg yolks and stir until smooth.
  2. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a separate bowl. Add 1/3 of the flour and half the sour cream. When well combined add another 1/3 of the flour and 1/2 the sour cream. Finally mix in the remaining flour.
  3. Lightly flour the bench then roll the dough until about 1cm thick. Cut small circles about the size of a doughnut hole, or don't roll flat, just make equal sized balls.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 180 degrees C.
  5. Using the melted butter and a brush paint the balls then place in the air fryer. Cook for 6 minutes.
  6. As soon as the doughnut centres are cooked, paint again with the melted butter and immediately dip into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
