In my house this chocolate trifle is a traditional at holidays like Christmas and Easter. It is composed of layers of sponge finger biscuits and chocolate cream.


Serves: 6 

  • 1/2 cup cornflour
  • 800ml milk
  • 1 tin sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 250g chocolate, finely diced
  • 400ml sour cream
  • 2 packets sponge finger biscuits
  • 1 cup milk, or as needed
  • 200g chocolate, grated

Preparation:30min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:3hours chilling  ›  Ready in:3hours40min 

  1. Dissolve the cornflour in 800ml milk, add the condensed milk and simmer, stirring, until thickened.
  2. Add the diced chocolate and stir until the chocolate melts. Let cool, then stir in the sour cream and set aside.
  3. Dip the sponge fingers in milk and make a layer in a baking dish. Top with a layer of chocolate cream then another biscuit layer. Repeat until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of cream.
  4. Garnish with grated chocolate then chill at least 3 hours before serving.
