Apple Streusel Pie

    This is a delightful apple pie that has a traditional apple pie base then a streusel topping. It looks as good as it tastes.

    Makes: 1 pie

    • Streusel Topping
    • 50g butter
    • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup (60g) plain flour
    • Filling
    • 8 Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled and sliced
    • 1/4 cup (50g) white sugar
    • 1 tablespoon plain flour
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
    • Pie Base
    • 1 pre-made pie base

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
    2. Streusel Topping: Combine the butter, brown sugar and flour. Cut in all ingredients with pastry cutter until about pea sized. Set aside until needed.
    3. Filling: Combine the apples, sugar, flour and cinnamon. Toss gently together then set aside until needed.
    4. To Assemble: Place the apple mixture in the unbaked pie base until filled completely. Sprinkle the streusel topping on the apple.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes or until the top is a rich brown.
