The Best Spaghetti Bolognese

    This spaghetti bolognese is extra flavourful because of extra garlic and a little basil pesto. You will love it.

    Serves: 2 

    • splash olive oil
    • 5 cloves garlic, crushed
    • 1 red onion, finely diced
    • 350g lean beef mince
    • dash red wine
    • 1 (400g) tin diced tomatoes
    • 100g tomato paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon Italian mixed herbs
    • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
    • 200g pasta
    • 1 tablespoon pesto
    • grated Parmesan cheese, to serve

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:45min 

    1. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan and cook garlic and onions until soft.
    2. Add beef mince and brown well. Drain off any excess fat. Add a dash of red wine and cook until wine is reduced.
    3. Stir in the tomatoes and tomato paste. Add mixed herbs, paprika and garlic salt. Stir well.
    4. Cook the pasta according to packet directions. Meanwhile, stir the pesto into the pasta sauce.
    5. Serve the pasta with bolognese sauce, sprinkled with cheese if desired.

    brilliant recipe i used less garlic and had no Italian spices so threw in coriander cumin chilli powder and some all spice was lovely highly recommended i also crushed in a beef oxo cube thank you very much for sharing your recipe i loved it will never buy a jar again  -  27 Feb 2015  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
