The best thing about this recipe is you can use a fairly cheap cut of steak such as flank, sandwich or chuck. It needs to marinate overnight.

Serves: 2 

  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons hot Cajun seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 600g steak such as flank

  1. In a zip-top plastic bag or a shallow plastic container mix vinegar, sugar, Cajun seasoning, soy, oregano and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well. Add the steak, seal the container and shake well. Marinate overnight.
  2. Preheat the grill to hot. Grill the steak 7 minutes on each side for medium. Let rest 10 minutes, then slice across the grain into 1cm slices.


You can also do this on the barbecue.
